The Virtues of the Internet
When it comes to tech, it’s safe to say that we have all had our fair share of experiences with the many modern marvels tech has to offer. After all, tech has become an integral part of modern life, as it has revolutionized just about every facet of modern society over the years. Tech is everywhere, and it makes our lives easier every day. However, we often lose sight of this. Every time our wi fi connection cuts out, we’re so busy cursing our ISP that we’re no longer grateful for the many benefits that the internet has given us, for example. I’m here to remind you, and myself, of the many great things tech has done for us. Here are just a few ways in which the internet has changed our lives for the better.
For starters, there’s online shopping. Since the advent of the barter system in our earliest civilizations, shopping has been a slog. You have to take time out of your day to travel to a shop, find the goods you need, pay for said goods, and return home, and then you rinse and repeat forever in most cases. However, thanks to online shopping, much of the tedium of shopping is a thing of the past. For example, if you’re planning a trip, not only can Expedia help you make travel arrangements online in a hassle free fashion, but it also aggregates all of the travel arrangements you’ll need to make into one convenient “location” that’s right inside your home. Just about anything you need is only a few clicks, and a few lines of text, away from you at any given time. Perhaps the only downside is that there’s a waiting time associated with delivery, but it still beats the alternative.
Another important benefit of the internet is enhanced communication. As with online shopping, online communication of all sorts can connect you with just about anyone with just a few clicks from anywhere, to anywhere, in the world. And, to beat all, it also consolidates a litany of different methods of communications, from voice and video calls to text messages and email.
