Unless you’re a teenager on the cutting edge, there is a good chance you may have felt as though you are getting left behind in terms of the latest technological developments at times. The world looks a lot different now than it did ten years ago and we live in an age when you can essentially control your life from an electrical device in your pocket, or even from your watch if you’re one of the lucky ones who own the new Apple Watch. But you don’t have to be one of the cool kids to have your finger on the tech pulse.
Take your phone, for example. The most exciting part of a mobile phone 10 years ago was probably being able to play the game Snake or the mind-blowing ‘calculator’ function. These days, there are very few things you can’t do from your mobile device from catching up on television shows, booking holidays, paying your gas bill or just checking the five-day weather forecast in Mongolia. Throw mobile tablet devices into the mix and people are now able to do almost anything on the move.
Even the world of casinos have moved from its traditional surroundings of dimmed lights, cocktail waitresses and late nights, and mobile casinos have seen the industry enjoy a huge spike in popularity. While you used to have to physically go out and visit a casino to try your hand on the roulette wheel or the blackjack tables, the growth of the online casino means that betting fans can now enjoy all the benefits of a real casino by simply getting out their phone or logging onto their laptop.
So while the commute home from work used to be spent avoiding the eye of the weird guy sat across from you, you can now spend that 20 minutes playing poker for real cash on your phone. That is possibly even enough to pay for a takeaway.
The birth of smart watches means you now don’t even have to go to all that effort of putting your hand in your pocket, wrapping your fingers around your phone and then having to lift it out. No, now all you need to do to catch up on your social media or see when the next bus is coming is to look at your watch. The Apple Watch was unveiled earlier this year to the expected fanfare that comes with any Apple product release. It’s fair to say the company’s latest development has gone down well with customers.
But while the Apple Watch has gone down a storm with those who have used it, that’s not to say you need to rush out and pay the significant price to purchase one right away. With an Apple Watch 2 expected out next year, at a much more reasonable price and with even more functions, there are more than a few who will be waiting until next year before shelling out on the watch and leaping full length into the future.
